iTunes Empty Tag Problem

<rant>
I’ve just spent what spare time I have had over the past few days (which isn’t much) trying to fix a problem with some of my MP3s showing no tag information in iTunes’ playlists.

Searching Google using different search terms didn’t yield any results. Also searching the foobar2000 forum, as thats what I use to tag up all my files, also came up with no answers.

Earlier this evening, I decided enough was enough and was just about to delete the album but decided I would try stripping all the tags and retag the problematic albums for the third time this week.

This time I took my time and carefully took notice of which tags were present, which were not. Although all the ID3v2 tags were present and correct (as I had repeatedly retagged them this week) the ID3v1 looked blank but in fact had a space in a few of the fields. Removing the spaces and retagging the ID3v2 tags for good measure fixed the problem.

Not sure why you’d want to know all this… but knowing might save you a headache should you experience this yourselves?
