Firefox 0.9 Available

The Mozilla team have just released version 0.9 of Firefox, the browser, reloaded. This release features plenty of fixes, improvements and new features.

  • New default theme named Winstripe
  • Browser migration tool to enable a quick transition when moving from alternative browsers
  • A new theme and extension manager
  • Massively reduced file download size
  • Help Files
  • Code optimisation for increased speed
  • many bugfixes

Note: The first time you start Firefox, all of your extensions will be automatically disabled, and the theme will be reset to the default WinStripe. You must look for newer versions of your extensions that are compatible with Firefox 0.9 since the extension API has changed.

It is recommended that you read the release notes, as there are a few changes from 0.8.

Download Firefox now.

Update: Andy posted a comment with a link to a list of 0.9 compatible extensions and theres a tutorial on how to upgrade to 0.9 at the MozillaZine forums. And don’t forget to check out the new update.mozilla.org for themes and extensions.
