I’ve written a little bit about the new Firefox release. My article about Firefox v1. Although I’m annoyed with the compatibility of previous extensions and the removal of the “alternate stylesheet” icon in the status bar!

To make extensions work with the new Firefox release.
1. Download the extension
2. Change the file extension to .zip
3. Extract install.rdf from the .zip
4. Change “MaxVersion” to 1.0
5. Add install.rdf back into the archive.
6. Change file extension back to .xpi
7. Drag onto a Firefox window.
8. And you’re done!
This has worked for every extension I’ve installed today.
Hope it works ok for you.

That’s pretty tricksy stuff, Chris. How did you figure that out?

lol Kev.
Benjamin, I remembered that the Mozilla xpi’s were just renamed .zip files so it was just a matter of finding which file contained the version information. :)
