Some interesting news regarding future Internet Explorer updates!
Woohoo!
Opera have released Opera 7.5 Preview 1, the most notable changes in my opinion are…
Apple have released v4.2 of their popular iTunes jukebox.
On Thursday, Apple announced that AOL users could purchase music from the iTunes Store via AOL accounts, and this update coincides with that news. Also included is an update to QuickTime 6.5 and according to the documentation there are a number of performance improvements too.
iTunes is the free software from Apple that lets users rip music from their CDs to MP3 or AAC format, mix the music using their own custom playlists, and burn their digital music to CD. It’s the software that bridges a connection between Macs and PCs and Apple’s iPod digital music player, and it’s the way that Mac and PC users alike can access Apple’s iTunes Music Store, a repository of more than 400,000 songs from commercial and independent music artists.
There are updates for both Mac & Windows versions.
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for (sorry I’ve always wanted to say that), the full final release of FeedDemon, the RSS reader for Windows is now available.
For those who don’t know exactly what FeedDemon is, here is a quote from the FeedDemon homepage:
FeedDemon enables you to quickly explore the world of RSS from your desktop without having to visit hundreds of sites. Written by Nick Bradbury, creator of TopStyle and HomeSite, FeedDemon makes RSS as easy to access as your email.
There is a trial version of FeedDemon available for download, and you can also purchase it for an introductory offer price of about £18 (GBP) or $29.95 (USD).
I don’t readily recommend software, but Nick’s work on TopStyle, Homesite and now FeedDemon make it an easy recommendation to make. And your not just getting a RSS reader for you money either, as the support via the newsgroups and email are second to none (in my opinion).
An excerpt from Nick’s Blog:
At the stroke of midnight tonight (CST), I’m “officially” locking the FeedDemon code in preparation for its final release. It’s been a long time coming, so I’m excited to finally get to this point.

Posting to MovableType from FeedDemon.
Jakub Kazecki posted a handy tip in the Bradsoft newsgroups which enables posting to MovableType directly from FeedDemon.
First, select Tools > Blog this News Item > Configure Blog Publishing Tools, then click the "Add" button and enter this as the command line:
http://www.myblog.com/cgi-bin/mt.cgi?
is_bm=1&bm_show=&__mode=view&_type=entry&

&link_href=$ITEM_LINK$&text=$ITEM_DESCRIPTION$
Where ‘www.myblog.com/cgi-bin’ is the URL of your MT installation.

While I’m at it, I was speaking to a friend of mine today, and it crossed my mind that everyone in the web design/development industry owes Nick a massive “thank you” for everything that he’s done and continues to do…
If you’re wondering why, read on:
TopStyle, FeedDemon, Dreamweaver or Homesite, many of us have used at least one of these, and most of us have used them all at one time or another, and for that we should be grateful.
Thanks Nick!
